Steve's Folk Radio Show -

Carolyn Hester  -  House Concert
Wednesday, February 29th   7PM
Cleveland Heights, Ohio
On September 29, 1961, Columbia recording star Carolyn Hester took an unknown harmonica player into the studio to lay down tracks that would become part of her 3rd album “Carolyn Hester”
That unknown musician was Bob Dylan, whom John Hammond quickly signed to his own Columbia recording contract.
Carolyn, known throughout the folk music world as “The Texas Songbird” for her angelic voice, remains as angelic and sweet sounding on her 2009 release “We Dream Forever” as she did when she first recorded “Scarlet Ribbons” in 1957.

In between, Carolyn has toured the world, graced the cover of the Saturday Evening Post, and played to packed houses everywhere.  Her duet on “Boots of Spanish Leather” with Nanci Griffith for Dylan’s 30th Anniversary concert remains a classic.

Steve’s Folk Radio Show, in association with Roots of American Music, proudly presents Carolyn in an intimate house concert setting.  Be a part of folk music history as Carolyn recounts her many fascinating stories sandwiched between songs from her varied and enduring career.  Bring a memento for Carolyn to personalize.

Steve's Folk is heard Saturday mornings from 9 to 11 am on WCSB Cleveland 89.3 FM or streaming on the web at wcsb.org.  AND NOW, RIGHT HERE!  Or, more accurately, on the new archive page. Turn it on, tune it in, slip back in time.
Steve's Folk features lyric-intensive genre-bending rockin folk-y music with a message or two. From Greenwich Village 1960, through yesterday: voices of love, protest, anger, kindness, and need. Obscure covers, requests, and songs you haven’t heard since you cut your hair and got a job. New stuff too. Lots of background music info and a little topical commentary. Two hours of Peace, Love and Understanding.
Not to mention weekly reports from Steve's Folk Crack News Staff (the news staff that IS on crack), ably led by Steve's Folk Crack News cub reporter Rosco Roginski and with expert commentary by Professor Brian Sobczyk and his lovely bride Dr. Maureen Sobczyk.  Occasional smart remarks by Steve.
If you like your folk-y music served to you with a rockin' beat on Saturday mornings, come and set a spell.
